What's new

Everything we've shipped, newest first.

  1. Log a play session in two taps

The new Log button (the + in the middle of the tab bar on phones) asks what you played, when and for how long, and files it on the right playthrough, starting one if needed.

Games you're in progress with are on Home with a + Session button, and the Log page keeps your play streak and this week's time.

Sharing a save, a shelf or your profile sends its card as a picture with the link, and games without art get a label of their own.

The daily puzzle shows on Home until you've played it or closed it for the day.

  2. Privacy and community guidelines

What we keep about you, who helps us run memcard and how long we keep it, in plain words.

Guidelines for writing here: what isn't allowed, spoilers, and how reports and moderation work.

Both are linked at the bottom of every page.

  3. A weekly email, if you want one

Once a week: what's waiting in your notifications and what the people you follow played and reviewed.

It's off until you turn it on, nothing is sent in a quiet week, and every email has an unsubscribe link.

New accounts confirm their email address before posting reviews, comments or shelves.

  4. A simpler logo, and smoother everything

A cleaner memory-card mark and new lettering for memcard.

Softer buttons, a status picker that pops, lists that rise in, and dialogs that slide up on phones.

Lots of small fixes across the site, and pages that load a little less code.

  5. Reports and blocking

You can report a review, a shelf or a profile, the same way as comments and community posts.

Block someone from their profile and you stop seeing each other's reviews, comments, shelves and discussions. They aren't told.

If a moderator hides something you wrote, you get a note saying why.

  6. A front page for visitors

People who aren't signed in now see what memcard is about: games popular this week, fresh reviews and shelves people made.

"Popular this week" only says "this week" when enough people actually played.

  7. Pick the games an import couldn't match

After a CSV import, every game we couldn't find (or only nearly matched) gets a search so you can pick the right one, or skip it.

The counts update as you go, and nothing you already chose is overwritten.

  8. Comments on reviews

Reply to someone's review, and get a notification when someone replies to yours.

Comments can be reported, and hidden ones stay out of every count.

  9. Shelves

Make shelves of games — ranked or not — with a note for each one.

Game pages show the shelves that feature them.

  10. Badges

Milestones for finishing games, writing reviews and keeping at it show up on your profile.

  11. What should I play next?

Can't choose from your queue? Pick a mood and memcard picks one game for you. Not feeling it? Roll again.

  12. Bring your games from a spreadsheet

Import any CSV — from Backloggd, a spreadsheet or another app — with a preview before anything is saved.

Ratings out of 5, 10 or 100 are turned into memcard's half blocks.

  13. Your data, yours to take

Download everything you've logged as one file, any time.

You can also delete your account for good, after confirming your handle and password.

  14. Likes and an inbox

Like a review you enjoyed. Its writer finds out in their inbox, along with new followers and community replies.

  15. Wrapped: your year in games

A look back at your year: what you played most, finished, rated highest and how it changed month to month.

  16. Forgot your password?

Ask for a reset link by email. It works once, for an hour, and signs you out everywhere else.

  17. Share cards and search engines

Links to games, reviews and profiles now unfurl into a card with the cover, rating and an excerpt.

A Share button opens your phone's share sheet, or copies the link.

Game pages and reviews are easier for search engines to find.

  18. Install memcard as an app

Add memcard to your home screen and it opens full screen, like an app.

Lose your connection and you get a friendly offline page instead of an error.
